Hello, my sweet friends.
This is our last Monday together for a little while. I'm going to rest my voice and let the Lord fill the well back up. So let's make this one count.
I want to tell you about one word.
At Ruth's House, when a woman comes to our door at two in the morning, she almost never says what happened first. She says she's sorry for the hour. She says she probably overreacted. She says he's a good man, really. And sometimes it takes her a week, sometimes a month, to say the one word that changes everything.
Afraid.
I'm afraid of him.
You would not believe what that word does, friends. When a woman says it, the doors open. The lawyers listen. The judges listen. The whole world turns its face toward her. It is the most powerful word I know, and it is the hardest one to say.
So I want to read you God's answer to it.
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
The right hand of His righteousness. I think about hands a lot, as some of you know. These hands of mine have been through the fire. And I can tell you that His hand has never once let go of me.
I'll be honest with you, because you've always let me be honest. I've never had to say that word about my own home. I pray I never do. But if I ever did, I know exactly who would be standing there when I said it. Every one of you.
Let's pray.
Father, for every woman who hasn't found the word yet, give her courage. For every home where somebody is afraid, be the right hand that holds. And keep our homes, Lord. Keep my home. In Jesus' name, amen.
I'm Rebecca. This has been Midnight Bread. Thank you for these weeks. Go be somebody's blessing today.
